The beauty of life reduces to those exact moments when you find something you like, something you find the most difficult to describe with words, something you can only feel. That’s exactly what happens with  Tensixties.
This amazing indie rock band has the power of bringing your senses to a complete overjoy level. Its members have the innate ability of creating an energic atmosphere, surrounding you with a flawless up-tempo rhythm. They accomplish an admirable empathy, effortlessly pulling you into their paralell world, where there’s no fear of foolishness.
But what a better way to try describing all of this than to have Gibbs, the lead singer of the band, do it himself. Here’s the interview:
* Origin of the band’s name:
When I was about 6 years old in England, my older brother and I found an African Grey Parrot, whose owner must have abandoned in the street. So we named him Mr Malcolm because he looked a bit like a school teacher of ours, took him home, and he became part of the family. Funny thing was that whenever Mr Malcolm got frightened or stressed for some reason he would shout out something that sounded like ‘Ten Sixty, ten sixty, ten sixty’ at the top of his voice. So when we were looking for a band name it seemed like a natural choice. VIP Mr Malcolm!

* Influences:
The age of chivalry, Freddy Kruger, beach fires at night, The smiths, Silvio Berlusconi, the La’s, Peter Gabriel, Oscar Wilde, Joy Division, Bowie, The Beatles, Eurythmics, The doors, Bob Marley, Winston Churchill, The Stone Roses, Van halen, The clash, daft punk, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Stevie wonder, The Cure, Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai, Prince, Electric 6, the GO! team, The coral, The Knife, Marvin Gaye, the kinks, Gomez, Phoenix, Belle & Sebastian, Yes, Al Green, Suede, drunken friends, the 80s, saturday morning sun.
* Inspiration:
Life in general, sometimes you just a get a very strong feeling that shoots up, memories, smells, sights, sounds, people you’ve loved, most people don’t realise what the songs are about, some of them have quite dark themes, but because the music is cheerful they might miss that. We like the contrast of happy and sad.

If Tensixties was a person, what would be…
* His favorite song?: hmm tough one, hmm Regret by New Order / Whats Going On by Marvin Gaye
* His favorite movie?: Anchorman, Highlander and anything by Steven Seagal or Chuck Norris
* His favorite word?: Tomfoolery
* His heroe/heroine?: Ricky Fort/Ricky Fort

Tensixties is a synonym for celebration, melancholy, love, wrong timing, happiness, all of it condensed in bouncing melodies and eccentrically theatrical performances. It’s your ticket out of the city of conventionality, with songs capable of reducing your boredom to plain nothing.
It’s said that music is the most powerful magic… if so, this band is one of the authors of its book of spells, reminding us that life’s supposed to be a game and effortlessly inviting us to feel like kids again, even if it’s only for one night.
Thanks to Gibbs for such an original interview, to Jota Eme and Santio, and to my dear friend, the photographer who would rather stay anonimous.

VIP Sr. Malcolm!

* Influencias:
La época de la caballería, Freddy Kruger, las fogatas nocturnas en la playa, los Smiths, Silvio Berlusconi, The La’s, Peter Gabriel, Oscar Wilde, Joy Division, Bowie, The Beatles, Eurythmics, The Doors, Bob Marley, Winston Churchill, The Stone Roses , Van Halen, The Clash, Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Stevie Wonder, The Cure, Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai, Prince, Electric 6, The GO! team, The Coral, The Knife, Marvin Gaye, The Kinks, Gomez, Phoenix, Belle & Sebastian, Yes, Al Green, Suede, los amigos pasados de copas, los años ’80, el sol de los sábados por la mañana.

* Inspiración:

Regret de New Order / Whats Going On de Marvin Gaye
